WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DIE? By Robyn O’Connell
Finally a book for children on what happens when someone dies that deals with the questions children ask!
Drawing on her many years experience in dealing with children and death, Robyn portrays the story of someone special dying as it unfolds and the questions that children have. All of the questions that have been used in the book are real questions asked by children.
What Happens When You Die? is the story told by an eight year old boy, Jamie, who is faced with the sudden death of his favourite uncle, a twenty five year old. Jamie is bewildered as it is the first time anyone close to him has died. He has so many questions - who will answer them for him?
This book is real and honest, it doesn't soften any of the realities of death but deals with them in simple way that primary school aged children would understand. It does not have any religious content so that families can tell their children of their own beliefs.
Robyn hopes that families will use this book in a proactive manner rather than a reactive. If someone close to you dies, you are not really in the right state of mind to try and explain to children about death. If a child has already read the book and talked about it with Mum and Dad, they already know what will happen.
The book is available in bookshops throughout Australia and New Zealand. Or to order through here, please see below.
